How to use the Stripe fee calculator

Choose "Fee on a payment" to see what you receive, or "Amount to charge" to find the price that covers fees.
Check the rates. The default is Stripe's US standard 2.9% + 0.30 per domestic card.
Add 1.5% for international cards and 1% if currency conversion applies.

Stripe fee formulas

Fee = Amount × (Card % + International % + Conversion %) + Fixed fee

You receive = Amount − Fee

Amount to charge = (Target + Fixed fee) ÷ (1 − Total %)

Fees change often and differ by country and account. Defaults reflect US fees checked in September 2026; always confirm on the official pricing page. Disputes, Stripe Tax, invoicing and some card types have extra fees.

Example

A 100 payment by domestic card costs 100 × 2.9% + 0.30 = 3.20, so you receive 96.80. To receive exactly 100, charge (100 + 0.30) ÷ 0.971 = 103.30.

Stripe's standard pricing

As of September 2026, Stripe's standard US pricing is 2.9% + 0.30 per successful domestic card charge, plus 1.5% for international cards and 1% when currency conversion is needed. Businesses with high volume can ask Stripe for custom rates.

Passing fees on to customers

To cover fees in your price, use the amount to charge mode: dividing by one minus the percentage is the only way to receive your exact target, because the fee is also charged on the extra you add. Check local rules, since surcharging is restricted in some places.
