Price List Converter

Paste a supplier price list in any currency and get landed cost and a ready to use selling price in your own currency for every product.

One product per line: name, then the supplier price. Commas, semicolons or tabs all work, so you can paste straight from Excel.

Freight, duty and fees are added on top of the converted price to give landed cost. Markup is applied to landed cost (100% doubles it). Enter your own rate to match your bank or payment provider.

How to use the price list converter

  1. Copy the product name and price columns from your supplier's quote or spreadsheet and paste them into the box. One product per line.
  2. Pick the supplier's currency and your own. The daily rate loads automatically, or type in the rate your bank or payment provider actually gives you.
  3. Add your freight, duty and fees as a percentage, set your markup and choose a price ending such as .99, then download the finished price list as CSV.

Price list formulas

Converted price = Supplier price × Exchange rate
Landed cost = Converted price × (1 + Freight, duty and fees % ÷ 100)
Selling price = Landed cost × (1 + Markup % ÷ 100), then rounded up
Average margin = (Total selling price − Total landed cost) ÷ Total selling price × 100

Prices are always rounded up to the ending you choose, so rounding never eats into your margin. The average margin is weighted by price, so expensive products count more, just like in your profit and loss.

Example

A supplier quotes 100 in their currency and the rate is 0.20, so the converted price is 20. Adding 15% for freight and duty gives a landed cost of 23. A 120% markup makes 50.60, which rounds up to 50.99. Your margin on that product is 54.9%.

Why a single exchange rate is not enough

The rate you see online is the mid market rate. Banks, PayPal and card providers usually charge 1% to 4% on top. If you pay suppliers through one of them, enter the rate you actually get in the custom rate field so every price in the list reflects your real cost.

Choosing a price ending

Endings like .99 or .95 are standard in retail and make prices feel considered rather than calculated. Whole numbers ending in 9 work well for higher priced goods and for currencies without cents. Exact prices are useful when you only want to see cost and margin before you decide.

Frequently asked questions

What format should each line be in?

Product name, then supplier price. Commas, semicolons or tabs all work, and a currency symbol in front of the price is fine.

Where do the exchange rates come from?

Daily reference rates published by the European Central Bank, refreshed every few hours. You can override them with your own rate at any time.

Is my price list uploaded anywhere?

No. Everything is calculated in your browser and nothing is sent to a server or stored.

Should I use markup or margin?

This tool uses markup on landed cost, which is how most wholesalers price. The table and the average margin show what that markup means as a margin.

Can I paste straight from Excel or Google Sheets?

Yes. Copying two columns gives tab separated text, which the tool reads without any cleanup.
