How to use the Amazon fee calculator
- Enter your item price and any shipping you charge the buyer.
- Check the referral fee for your category. Most categories are 15%. Add the per-item fee if you are on the Individual plan, and the closing fee for media items.
- If you use FBA, enter the fulfillment fee from Amazon's FBA fee page; if you ship yourself, enter your shipping cost. Then add your product cost.

Fees change often and differ by country, category and account. Defaults reflect US fees checked in September 2026; always confirm on the official fee page. The Professional plan has a monthly subscription instead of the per-item fee.
Example
An item sells for 29.99 with no shipping charge. The 15% referral fee is 4.50 and the FBA fee is 5.00, so Amazon fees are 9.50 and your payout is 20.49. After an 8.00 product cost, profit is 12.49, a 41.65% margin.
Amazon referral fees by category
As of September 2026, most US categories charge a 15% referral fee on the total sale price, including shipping and gift wrap, with a 0.30 minimum. Some categories differ: consumer electronics is 8%, and clothing uses tiers from 5% to 17% depending on price. Check Amazon's pricing page for your category.
Individual vs Professional plan
The Individual plan charges 0.99 per item sold with no monthly fee. The Professional plan costs 39.99 a month with no per-item fee, so it pays off once you sell more than about 40 items a month. Leave the per-item fee at 0 if you are on Professional.
