How to use the PayPal fee calculator

  1. Choose "Fee on a payment" or "Amount to charge".

PayPal fee formulas

Fee = Amount × (Rate % + International %) + Fixed fee
You receive = Amount − Fee
Amount to charge = (Target + Fixed fee) ÷ (1 − Total %)

Fees change often and differ by country and account. Defaults reflect US fees checked in September 2026; always confirm on the official pricing page. Other products such as card payments through PayPal, invoicing and in-person payments have different rates.

Example

A 200 goods and services payment costs 200 × 3.49% + 0.49 = 7.47, so you receive 192.53. To receive exactly 200, request (200 + 0.49) ÷ 0.9651 = 207.74.

As of September 2026, PayPal's US fee for PayPal Checkout and goods and services payments is 3.49% plus a fixed fee of 0.49 for payments in US dollars, with an extra 1.5% for international transactions. Fixed fees vary by currency.
